Cookie Policy

Last Updated: October 13, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how astateful e.U. ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on astateful.com. We want you to know what is stored on your device, why, and how to stay in control of it.

Audit note: When this policy was prepared, no specific cookies or third-party services had been itemised for our site. We have not invented cookie names, providers, or durations. Where details are not yet confirmed, we say so. We will audit our site and update the cookie tables below so they reflect what actually runs on it.

At a Glance

  • What do we use? Cookies and similar browser-storage technologies. The only similar technology we have confirmed is scheme selection storage, which remembers a choice you make on our site.
  • Why? To keep the site working, remember your choices (including your cookie consent), and remember your scheme selection.
  • What types? Essential cookies, which are always on. Functional storage, which needs your consent. We have not identified any analytics or marketing cookies.
  • How can you control them? Through our opt-in cookie banner, which blocks non-essential cookies until you agree. You can also use your browser settings.
  • Do third parties set cookies? We use essential service providers such as hosting and, where applicable, payment processing. We have not itemised any third-party cookies. See Section 3.
  • Do we honor GPC or DNT? No. See Section 4.

1. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your browser or device when you visit. They let a site recognise your device, remember your preferences, and function properly. They may store things like a session identifier, a consent choice, or a setting you picked.

Cookies are either session cookies, which disappear when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which stay until they expire or you delete them. They are first-party if set by us and third-party if set by another organisation whose service we use.

Similar Technologies

Other technologies work much like cookies. They include:

  • Browser storage (such as localStorage): lets a website save information inside your browser, often for longer than a session.
  • Web beacons and tracking pixels: tiny images or code snippets that record whether a page or message was viewed.
  • Fingerprinting: collecting device and browser characteristics to recognise a device.

What we use: Beyond cookies, we use scheme selection storage. It saves the scheme you choose on our site so you do not have to select it again on each visit. We have not identified any use of web beacons, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

2. How We Use Cookies

We group the cookies and storage on our site into four categories. Our cookie banner is opt-in: cookies and storage that are not strictly necessary are blocked until you consent.

2.1 Strictly Necessary / Essential Cookies (Always On)

These are needed for the site to work securely and reliably. Typical uses include session management, security, and remembering your cookie consent choice so we do not ask on every page. You cannot switch them off through our banner. You can block them in your browser, but parts of the site may not work.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest and contractual necessity (providing the site and services you request).

Cookie Name Provider Purpose Duration
Consent preference record (technical name to be confirmed in our audit) astateful e.U. (first party) Remembers your choices in our cookie banner To be confirmed in our audit
Session and security cookies, if any (names to be confirmed in our audit) astateful e.U. and/or hosting provider Keep the site secure and functioning during your visit To be confirmed in our audit

2.2 Functional Cookies (With Consent)

Functional cookies and storage remember choices you make so the site feels consistent. We load them only if you consent.

Legal basis: Consent.

Cookie Name Provider Purpose Duration
Scheme selection storage astateful e.U. (first party) Remembers the scheme you select on our site To be confirmed in our audit

We have not identified chat widgets, embedded third-party content, or other functional cookies.

2.3 Analytics & Performance Cookies (Consent Required in the EU)

Analytics cookies help site owners understand how visitors use a site, such as which pages are popular. We have not identified any analytics platform in use on our site, and we do not name one here. If we add one, we will name it in this policy, add it to the table below, and ask for your consent before it loads.

Legal basis: Consent (EU/EEA and UK). Where local law allows, legitimate interest with an opt-out may apply elsewhere. Our banner asks for opt-in consent regardless.

Cookie Name Provider Purpose Duration
None identified Not applicable Not applicable Not applicable

2.4 Marketing & Advertising Cookies (Consent Required)

We do not currently use marketing cookies. We do not run retargeting or cross-site advertising tracking through cookies on our site. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.

3. Third-Party Cookies & Services

We rely on essential service providers to run our site, such as hosting and, where applicable, payment processing. These providers may set or read strictly necessary cookies, for example to deliver pages securely or to complete a payment.

We have not itemised specific third-party cookies, and we do not make claims about how these providers handle data. For details on what a provider collects and how long it keeps it, please read that provider's own privacy and cookie policy. Providers' names and links will be added here as we confirm them in our audit.

  • Third-party analytics or advertising services: None identified. No opt-out links apply specifically to our site at this time. General opt-out tools are listed in Section 5.

4. Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control

  • Global Privacy Control (GPC): We do not currently honor GPC signals.
  • Do Not Track (DNT): We do not currently honor DNT signals.

If your browser sends either signal, our site does not change how it behaves because of that signal. What protects you is the opt-in banner: non-essential cookies and storage stay blocked until you consent, and we have not identified any marketing cookies.

GPC is recognised as a valid opt-out of certain data sales and sharing under the laws of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Montana, and Texas, among others. Our decision not to honor GPC is something we are reviewing as part of our audit. If you are a resident of one of these states and want to opt out of any sale or sharing of your personal information, contact us at contact@astateful.com and we will act on your request as the law requires.

5. Your Cookie Choices

Our Cookie Banner

When you first visit astateful.com, our consent banner appears. It is opt-in and designed to meet GDPR standards: cookies and storage that are not strictly necessary are blocked until you agree. You can accept or decline non-essential categories, and you can change your mind at any time through the cookie settings on our site. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and it does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Browser Settings

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Instructions for the major browsers:

Industry Opt-Out Tools

These tools are not specific to our site, but they let you manage interest-based advertising and analytics more broadly:

If You Block All Cookies

The site may not work as intended. You may be unable to keep your preferences, your consent choice may not be remembered (so the banner may reappear), your scheme selection may reset on each visit, and some secure or transactional features may fail.

6. Cookie Duration & Data Retention

Session vs. Persistent

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies and browser storage remain until they expire or you delete them. We have not yet confirmed exact durations for each item in Section 2, and the audit will fill them in. Where it makes sense, we will favour short durations.

Retention Beyond Expiry

We keep any information collected through cookies only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as the law requires. We have not set a separate retention period for cookie-derived data. For more on how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.

Clearing Existing Cookies

You can delete cookies and site data at any time through your browser's settings (see the links in Section 5). Clearing browser storage also removes your saved scheme selection and your consent record, so you will be asked for your preferences again.

7. International Data Transfers

Our essential service providers, such as hosting and payment providers, may process data outside your country, including outside the EU/EEA or the UK. We have not confirmed specific processing locations for any provider, and we do not state them here.

When personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards under applicable law. These may include adequacy decisions or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK equivalent where relevant). For details on a particular provider's practices, please see that provider's privacy policy. You can contact us at contact@astateful.com for more information about the safeguards we use.

8. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this policy when our cookies, technologies, or providers change, or when the law changes. For material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and may show a notice on our site. If we add a new category of non-essential cookies, such as analytics or marketing, we will ask for your consent again before using it.
